About Us

Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates is a single specialty gastroenterology and hepatology (liver disease) practice serving the New Orleans area that includes 25 GI doctors with three office locations – New Orleans, Metairie and Westbank. These physicians, along with three additional local gastroenterologists, comprise the medical staff of its three affiliated endoscopy centers – MGA Gastrointestinal Diagnostic & Therapeutic Centers. Our Board Certified doctors are experts in all aspects of their specialties, including colon cancer screening procedures, treatment of GERD, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and treatment of diseases of the liver and pancreas.

GI Alliance

Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates is a proud member of the GI Alliance (GIA), which means they are supported by the nation’s largest and most reputable team of gastroenterology experts. The partnership between GI practices allows physicians to continue providing the highest-quality of personalized care to their patients while establishing an organization with the resources to provide the most innovative and superb care.

MGA Colonoscopy Experts

When choosing a GI doctor for your screening colonoscopy, you’ll want a physician with a high adenoma detection rate (ADR). ADR refers to the percentage of patients in whom a GI doctor detects one or more adenomas in screening colonoscopies. Choosing an MGA physician with a high ADR lowers your risk of colon cancer. The national average ADR is 25 percent for men and 15 percent for women.  Our gastroenterologists have an overall average ADR of 39.49 percent. This exceeds the national average by over 19 percent and surpasses many GI specialists in the New Orleans area.

If you’re looking for advanced, comprehensive GI patient care, contact your primary care physician for a referral to us or call (888) 707-6857 to inquire about an appointment.

Our Philosophy

We feel strongly that our responsibilities to you go beyond our medical and technical expertise. We place a strong emphasis on patient-physician communication and will listen to you, answer your questions and return your phone calls. Our office staff is patient and wants to help. Our overarching philosophy is that patients need to be treated as people, not numbers, and that philosophy permeates all aspects of our practice. Patient satisfaction is always our goal, and the history of the success of our practice and centers testifies to our dedication toward providing it. This fact, together with our consistent delivery of the highest quality of GI care, leaves our patients comfortable with the knowledge that choosing us is the right decision. We hope we have the opportunity of demonstrating this to you as well.

When you leave our offices, we want you to feel like you’ve been treated with courtesy, warmth and respect. That’s why we:

  • Provide a quick response to your illness.
  • Try to minimize long waits for your appointment.
  • Maintain a comfortable, relaxed environment to make you feel at ease.
  • Provide prompt referrals to other specialties when needed.
