Dr. Brett Hymel graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 2008. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. During his fellowship, he acquired advanced training in therapeutic endoscopy. In addition to standard endoscopic procedures, Dr. Hymel performs an array of specialized procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), liver biopsy, HALO ablation of Barrett’s Esophagus, banding/ablation of internal hemorrhoids, acid reflux testing (Bravo), endoscopic acid reflux treatment (STRETTA), and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of large polyps.
After completing his Gastroenterology fellowship training at LSU in New Orleans in 2014 he joined Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates.
Dr. Hymel is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
He is currently practicing in Metairie.
