
Dr. Persich was born in New Orleans and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School of New Orleans in 1987. He completed his internship, residency, fellowship and gastrointestinal endoscopy training at Louisiana State University Medical Center of New Orleans between 1987-1992. Having received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1990, Dr. Persich received his board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine, Subspecialty of Gastroenterology in 1998 and obtained his recertification by the Board in 2008. He is also certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Persich is currently a member of the active staff of East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie. Dr. Persich maintains active membership in numerous professional organizations including the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Physicians, Louisiana State Medical Society, and Jefferson Parish Medical Society. He is a Fellow of The American College of Physicians.
Dr. Persich entered the academic practice of medicine at the LSU Medical Center Department of Gastroenterology in New Orleans where he was Assistant Clinical Professor for six years teaching and instructing medical students, residents and fellows in the field of gastrointestinal medicine. In 1999, he entered private practice with IMG Healthcare, a multi-specialty group in New Orleans, until joining the practice of Dr. David Silvers in December 2003. Dr. Persich has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.
