Richard Puente was born in Miami in 1961. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1984 and Tulane University Medical School in 1988. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and GI Fellowship at Ochsner Foundation. He was recognized as a professional with outstanding abilities and featured in the “Best Doctors” issue of New Orleans Magazine.

I've been seeing Dr Puente for years. I couldn't have asked for a better Gastrologist. He puts you at ease, listens to you, explains your situation and finds a diagnosis. I went in to his office so sick just recently. He listened to me, set me up with test and followed with EGD Colonoscopy. He found bacteria in my lower intestines, which was the thing that made me so ill. He found some others things and has me on special food diet and prescription to help those things. But if it wasn't for him using his knowledge to know what test to run to find a solution to give me relieve I don't know what I would of done. I'm grateful for his knowledge and thoroughness on this situation. Highly recommend. Need more doctors like him. God bless.

However, when the office began using a new accounting firm, I think GI Alliance, I began getting bills and CONSTANT reminders that I owe $20. They sent emails, snail mails, phone calls, and texts! They sent a text EVERY DAY, even after I looked up their website & messaged them that I WILL PAY at my next appointment that is soon. Even AFTER I paid at my next appointment, they continued to send daily text reminders!!! Only after I called & informed them that I PAID, did the daily texts stop. This is horrible customer service!!!

Dr. G. Richard Puente is a gastroenterologist of the first degree, a consummate professional who is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and whose bedside manner is exemplary and second to none! His dedicated staff is a reflection of him, as their communication skills, their people skills and their devotion and commitment to treating Dr. Puente's patients with empathy and compassion exceeds the limits of imagination. In preparation for my medical procedure, they left no stone unturned, they answered all my questions and their actions were consistent with those of thoroughly trained medical professionals. I feel extremely blessed to have Dr. Puente and his staff in my corner - they assuaged all my fears, they made me feel very comfortable and they treated me like family, traits and qualities for which it is impossible to put a price tag on. They are not only an asset but they are also a credit to the medical profession - there actions are not only worthy of recognition, but also of imitation.
Dr. Puente is very caring, thorough, and definitely takes his time with patients. He has a great bedside manner. My husband and I love him. So glad our primary recommended him. He is the best!

Dr. Puente and his staff are the kindest medical professionals I’ve ever dealt with. I wish I could go to he and his staff for every medical situation I have.
