About G. Richard Puente, M.D.
Richard Puente was born in Miami in 1961. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1984 and Tulane University Medical School in 1988. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency and GI Fellowship at Ochsner Foundation. He was recognized as a professional with outstanding abilities and featured in the “Best Doctors” issue of New Orleans Magazine.
Dr. Puente practices at the Metairie office of Metropolitan Gastroenterology Associates.

I had a colonoscopy yesterday July 1, 2024. I was nervous about it, even though I’ve had two previous colonoscopies. I was taken to the prep room soon after arriving. The nurse that put in the I V was excellent (Nicole?) I was not bruised at all. My anesthesiologist (Rosa) was kind, and so was Dr Puente. I don’t remember the colonoscopy of course, and I woke up in the recovery room. I’m glad it’s over, but even the prep the day before wasn’t bad. Only I could not eat any solid food the day before… that was rough! But it’s over now!
